The popular messenger Telegram has handed over data of over 2,250 users to US authorities in the three months since the arrest of its founder Pavel Durov in France.

According to information on fulfilled requests from law enforcement agencies in the Telegram report, from the beginning of last year to December 13, the messenger fulfilled 900 requests from US authorities, transferring information on phone numbers and IP addresses of 2,253 users.
Previously, Telegram provided such user data only in cases related to terrorism, and by September 30, 2024, it had fulfilled only 14 requests from authorities in the United States regarding 108 users.
The increase in approved permissions for the vast majority of requests is due to the fact that Telegram announced a change to its privacy policy in September.
It was adjusted after French law enforcement officers detained Telegram founder Pavel Durov on August 24, then took him under judicial supervision, prohibiting him from leaving the country.
It is noted that in the case of Russia Telegram bot provides information only for the period from January 1 to September 30, 2024.
According to the company's report, 0 requests were executed during this time.
