At a defense exhibition in Pyongyang, North Korea unveiled its updated Tianma-2 main battle tank. Experts note that its design resembles modern Western models, such as the German Leopard 2A7/A8, known for its advanced armor, power, and digital systems. This is reported by Army Inform.
The Tianma-2 is equipped with a 125 mm smoothbore gun with automatic loading, modular composite armor for protection against projectiles, as well as dynamic armor and an active protection system similar to the Israeli Trophy APS. Additional protection against drones is provided by an anti-drone launch system mounted on the roof of the turret.
The tank's commander and gunner have a panoramic sight, which significantly improves the ability to capture and track targets. The upgrades also include a remotely controlled combat station with a large-caliber machine gun and launchers for anti-tank missiles.
Experts believe that Tianma-2 demonstrates North Korea's desire to develop armored vehicles capable of meeting modern standards. The novelty will attract the attention of regional and global military analysts, as it can change the balance of power on the Korean Peninsula.
