Porto’s squad will face Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-finals and the footballer Jesús Corona will be key in the aspirations of Los Dragones to advance to the semifinals although the Aztec does not have good results against English teams.
‘Tecatito’ has played 10 matches against Premier League teams and the former Monterrey player registers a negative record by only boasting a win in exchange for seven losses and two draws.
His first confrontation against an English club was precisely against Chelsea, a squad he faced in the 2013 Club World Cup when he defended the Rayados shirt. In that fair, which served as a “springboard” for Corona to emigrate to the Old Continent, Jesús and the rest of his teammates from Monterrey lost 1-3 against the ‘Blues’ in the semifinals.

A couple of years later, Corona faced Chelsea again but now with the Porto jersey in the group stage of the Champions League. The Aztec participated in only one of the two games that Los Dragones played against the ‘Blues’ and unfortunately they lost that commitment 2-0.
The only triumph of ‘Tecatito’ against a Premier League team was against Leicester City in the 2016/17 edition of the Champions League. Porto, with a great performance from Jesus scoring a goal and providing an assist, beat Leicester 5-0, a team that had previously beaten the Portuguese team by the minimum.
In the 2017/18 season, Porto and Liverpool met in the ‘Orejona’ Round of 16 and the ‘Reds’ won the first match 5-0, a result that allowed them to dominate the second leg that ended with a draw to zero goals.
A campaign later, Liverpool and Porto met again but now in the quarter-finals and the Anfield team took victory in both games, scoring a total of six goals in the series.
This season, Porto and Manchester City shared the group in the Champions League and Pep Guardiola’s team won 3-1 at home and in the second leg they equalized without goals.
Porto reached the Quarterfinals after surprisingly eliminating Juventus while Chelsea also surprised Champions League fans by beating Atlético de Madrid, leader of the Spanish championship.
Finally, according to Soccer Power Index de FiveThirtyEight, Chelsea are widely favorites to advance to the Semifinals with an 81% chance of eliminating Porto.
