(Columbus) Brayden Point ended the debate at 1:56 in overtime and the Tampa Bay Lightning have gone undefeated in three games this season, winning 3-2 over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Andrei Vasilevskiy and Joonas Korpisalo shone in overtime before Point, from the right mouth, narrowly redirected a pass from Victor Hedman.
Blake Coleman and Mathieu Joseph were the other scorers for the Stanley Cup champions.
Vasilevskiy made 23 saves for the winners.
Korpisalo was faced with 37 shots.
Nick Foligno and Oliver Bjorkstrand replied for the Blue Jackets.
Bjorkstrand’s goal was the fastest in club history, coming in 21 seconds after the initial face-off.
It was the 20e kicks off a season at Nationwide Arena.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday, at the same place.
Seven of the Blue Jackets’ next nine games will be at home.
The Lightning began a trip that will also include two games in Raleigh.
