It turns out that if a woman is divorced and doesn't have her own home, men immediately assume she's looking for a partner with an apartment.
If she also has a child, then she's not a woman at all, she's just a real estate hunter. I divorced my first husband a year ago. He found a younger and more attractive woman at work and started having an affair with her. To be honest, I had no idea that Andrzej was cheating on me.
After the divorce, I moved in with my parents because my ex told me to leave the apartment because I had no rights to it. Luckily, Andrzej was smart enough to pay alimony. It would have been hard for me to manage on my own with my salary. At first, I didn't even think about finding a new man or dating. I didn't need it. But later, my friends started convincing me that it was time to open up to new relationships and find a decent man.
They tried to introduce me to their friends or relatives. They invited me to their place, where there was an unmarried friend: “Our Ala is so hard-working, she cooks so deliciously that you will ask for more”, they praised me. But as soon as the potential gentlemen found out that I had a child and lived with my parents, they all disappeared.
Some of them didn't even explain why, they simply blocked my number. One day I decided to ask a colleague from work for advice. He could explain the logic behind the behavior of some men. His answer left me dumbfounded:
-You don't understand why this is happening? You have a child and no apartment.
-What's the point? You can get a mortgage or rent an apartment.
-No, that's not it. Men think that a woman without an apartment is looking for a ready-made place. And having a child is a double problem. Men see it as a threat: they say that you want to conquer their territory and force them to raise a child.
I felt funny listening to this. But later other colleagues confirmed the same opinion. It turned out that for many men, a woman without a home and with a child is perceived as a hunter looking for profit.
Now I sit here and think: is the lack of a home and a child really such an important issue for men? Not character, not common interests, not views on life? Is this the reason why I won't be able to find a normal man and build a family? Will I be alone forever?
