It was the day when millions of teenage hearts were broken, even more tissues were used and fans desperate.
On February 13, 1996 – exactly 25 years ago – one of the most successful boy bands of all time (30 million records sold at the time) announced their final split: Take That!
Gary Barlow (50), Howard Donald (52), Mark Owen (49) and Jason Orange (50) announced the end at a press conference. To this day, the day is considered “Black Tuesday”. Robbie Williams (49) had already retired seven months earlier.
For a long time everyone believed that Robbie had dropped out voluntarily. But how it really was, knows Nigel Martin-Smith (59) – the former manager and maker of the band.
Read with BILDplus what happened back then, who lied to whom and what intrigue brought the band down.
