T112 assault rifles will replace T91 in the armed forces of Taiwan: modernization features

The new T112 rifle has significant improvements compared to the current T91 rifle, including higher accuracy, improved ergonomics, increased durability .

China's armed forces will start upgrading to new T112 assault rifles next year. It is planned to purchase 86,114 units. About this writes Army Recognition.

The T112 has significantly increased firing accuracy, with a dispersion area of 100 meters — 9.8cm compared to the T91's 14cm. The increase in accuracy is described as “hand-sized to palm-sized”. The rifle retains the same 5.56mm caliber as the T91, so it is compatible with existing ammunition.

The ambidextrous design of the T112 increases operational flexibility, especially in close combat scenarios. Ergonomic improvements have appeared: there is a new trigger with an angle close to 90 degrees for improved fire control.

The T112 also uses a stronger composite magazine instead of the aluminum version found in previous models, which reduces the risk of deformation on impact and allows for smoother loading.

Several improvements make the T112 more suitable for a variety of combat situations. The rifle allows soldiers to install various accessories, such as optics and a stock.

In addition, the service life of the barrel has increased — from 6,000 to 10,000 shots.

Rifle firing modes — semi-automatic, double-shot and fully automatic. The change from the T91's three-round round to the T112's two-round round reflects the US military's finding that the third round is often inaccurate, resulting in unnecessary ammunition waste. This adjustment aims to balance the efficiency and stability of rapid fire.

The T112 rifle supports various belt configurations, uses a Quick Detach (QD) system for quick release options, and allows for two-point or single-point mounts.
