Swedish Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist told the media that the invasion of two Russian corvettes took place in the form of an entry into the country's sea zone. The ships did not have permission to pass, for this reason the situation in Stockholm was regarded as a violation of the procedure for access to the territorial waters. During an interview with SVT TV channel, Hultqvist reported on the violation by Russian ships. The head of the military department noted that the corvettes entered near Gothenburg, and the combat units were there for about 11 minutes.
Ships of the Russian Navy conducted exercises near Winga Island, which is a rocky formation located 10 nautical miles from Gothenburg. We are talking about the “Guarding” corvette, which was put into service in 2007, as well as the more modern “Thundering” corvette, built in 2017, with a hull length of 105 and 106 m, respectively.
