Frontman of the band “Ocean Elzy” Svyatoslav Vakarchuk presented a new version of his song “That Day” in a joint performance with four young, most popular Ukrainian musicians – KOLA, Jerry Heil, YAKTAK, SHUMEI.

24 years after the release of the band's cult album “Yananebibuv”, the song received a new sound, emotion and, most importantly, a new meaning. In it, there is a common desire and belief of all Ukrainians – our day will surely come.

According to the leader of OE, when choosing these artists, they focused on a certain criterion.

There was a desire to sing with those artists who were literally born either during the time when “Ocean Elsa” was created, or after that, that is, they are the same age as the group. At the same time, I wanted them to be musicians, each of whom has his own achievements in musical life and his own work. And it is clear that the voices and style should fit this song. In addition, we did not limit ourselves to the artists' own styles. I'm sure, more importantly, they are all gifted people who feel music. Each of them has their own absolutely undeniable talent, – Sviatoslav Vakarchuk said. lives by music and gave her a lot of “priceless advice”.

It is a great honor for me to sing again with Svyatoslav Vakarchuk. When Svyatoslav invited me for the second time, in order to perform his cult song “That Day”, which is one of the brightest in our musical history, I smiled, rejoiced and knew that it would be something big, bright and powerful. Sviatoslav, you are our ethnocode, the singer emphasized.

The performer Jerry Heil, commenting on her participation in the project, said that it was Sviatoslav Vakarchuk who gave her career a powerful boost about eight years ago. , when she was still a cover artist.

Then I sang “I Want It” and he shared it on Twitter, making thousands of people hear about me for the first time. Today, I am already known as an independent artist and performer of my own songs, so the fact that we are now re-singing this important song together is somehow especially symbolic and honorable for me. Joining the performance of the song “That Day”, which is cult for the band “Ocean Elsa” and for all of Ukraine, is a significant event for me, she said.

The new version of the song “That Day” is available for listening on the most popular music platforms. Also on August 9, the video for the composition was released. The clip was filmed on a hot July day in the very heart of Kyiv, on Zankovetska Street – all the performers gathered together in a small space of an atmospheric Kyiv apartment.

We specially squeezed all the heroes of the clip with the walls of one location. This video performance is built on opposites, so the crowding of a lonely apartment is replaced by fresh air and space, and exhaustion and limitations by the belief that the night will pass and a new day will begin. The Day when we will again see passenger planes in our skies above Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, all of Ukraine, – explained the idea of the clip, the director Yuriy Katynskyi.

Just like the composition of the performers, the choice of the composition itself was also not accidental. As you know, OE turns 30 in mid-October. OEs are offered to spend this special day with them at concerts that will be held in the Kyiv Sports Palace on October 11 and 12. The performances of Vakarchuk and Co. were called “Ocean Elsa. 30 years – That day!”.
