The leader of the Okean Elzy group Svyatoslav Vakarchuk gave an extensive interview to the Slava + program and told how he reacted to the scandal that erupted around the songs at the Independence Day concert, and whether he liked the medley of the most iconic songs in the history of independent Ukraine.

As it turned out, the musician did not like the concert organized in Kiev with the participation of his colleagues.

“I didn’t like the potpourri on Independence Day. At the same time, in Kiev, on Khreshchatyk, there was a march of volunteers, volunteers, soldiers who defended their state. It was a march of courage, a march of authenticity, a march of modesty and openness. To do such a show, in my opinion, was I have the right, as a spectator, as a listener, to say whether I liked it or not. At the same time, the one who organized it had the right to his vision. This is how they saw our independence. I do not agree with that, “said the artist.

Vakarchuk admitted that he spent the whole day on the march with his family, because it was “important for him at that moment.”

“This is not about politics. When I drink at parties with friends, and I am in a good mood, I allow myself some things that I don't want to talk about (smiles). But not on Independence Day, and not when there is a war in the country. I'm not going to impose my opinion on anyone, but I think so, “Svyatoslav said.

The musician also commented on the fact that in the concert they used a fragment of the song “Okeana Elzy” – “There, de us mute”. According to Svyatoslav, everything was legal and he has no grudge against the organizers.

“Nobody went beyond the law here. The question is different: if you use a song and say that these are iconic artists … But these artists, they seem to be alive? You could at least just ask,” said Svyatoslav.

Let us remind you that the Office of the President reacted to the scandal with the songs “Okeana Elzy” and “Boombox” at the concert dedicated to the Independence Day.
