The guy pretended to be a buyer and, while inspecting the goods, grabbed three iPhones of the latest model and started running away. The police detained the attacker and confiscated the smartphones. From now on, he faces up to ten years in prison for his actions.
The Svyatoshynskyi Police Department received a report from the security guards of the shopping center that an unknown young man was trying to rob a appliance store. The operative on duty sent an investigative and operational group to the scene to document the crime and clarify the circumstances.
Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene of the crime found out that the guy had entered the store and started talking to the consultant with the aim of buying an iPhone mobile phone. During the conversation, the attacker said that he was interested in the latest model, so he asked the employee to bring him three gadgets for inspection. Later, the young man took advantage of the fact that the consultant was distracted, grabbed the goods, with a total value of 233,000 thousand hryvnias, and started running away.
The shopping center guards stopped the attacker and handed him over to the police. Police officers detained a 22-year-old Kyiv resident under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and seized the phones he was trying to take possession of.
Investigators under the procedural guidance of the Svyatoshyn District Prosecutor's Office informed the guy of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 15 Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – attempted robbery committed under martial law. The sanction of the article provides for up to ten years of imprisonment.
