In order for the charger to reach such a high speed, the developers had to create an ultra-thin four-part battery that folds in half. Each part of the battery can be charged separately.

Realme presented its 320W SuperSonic fast charging system at an event in Shenzhen (China). It can charge its 4,400mAh battery from 0% to 100% in about 4.5 minutes, msn.com reports.

Realme introduced several new technologies at the same event, but Ben's Gadget columnist Reviews (@bensgadgetreviews), called the charger “the star of the show” in his YouTube video.

In order for the device to reach such a high speed, the developers had to create an ultra-thin four-part battery that folds in half. He noted that each part of the battery can be charged separately. The “AirGap” voltage transformer ensures the safety of the system by keeping the voltage separate from the battery.

However, as the blogger noted, tens of millions of devices already use SuperVOOC fast charging developed by the parent company Realme — Oppo.

“I haven't heard of any serious incidents with this fast charging,” — said Ben. — “I've personally used a SuperVOOC device for years with no issues.”

Fast charging systems are not just convenient: if commercialized and further developed, they could help transition to technologies that ultimately save consumers money while reducing pollution, causing the ambient temperature to rise.

Further information on the potential applications of the Realme SuperSonic fast charging system is not available, but Ben suggested that it could be available next year.
