A few hours ago, we told you about this huge blunder committed by the France 2 news regarding the next Superman film. And precisely, speaking of James Gunn's next film, the director recently spoke about David Corenswet, the new interpreter of the DC superhero, thus reassuring those who fear that he will not live up to his predecessor, know Henry Cavill.
Cavill's succession is assured with Corenswet according to Gunn
The DC Cinematic Universe is at the dawn of a new era. Indeed, after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the helm of DC Studios at the end of 2022, many changes have been put in place, starting with the name of the franchise. The DC Extended Universe (or DCEU) will therefore give way to the DC Universe (DCU).
A reboot that also involves major changes in terms of actors, since several major stars are no longer part of Gunn's plans, starting with Henry Cavill, the actor who played Superman. As a reminder, the British actor had played the superhero for a decade, having started in 2013 with Man of Steel, his character having appeared for the last time in The Flash (2023) on the occasion of a cameo.

This is what we will be able to discover in Superman, Gunn's next film with David Corenswet in the title role.
Although the feature film is slated for release in July 2025, Gunn still teased the project during his appearance at the recent New York Comic Con 2024. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the American director revealed that the film was currently in post-production and that he was confident about its progress and the project as a whole. It was also on this occasion that he spoke about Corenswet, praising the next actor to play the Man of Steel:
David Corenswet is going to blow everyone away. He is the movie star that everyone dreams of being. I don't think we really understand the extent of his dramatic and comedic talent. He's the best action star physically I've probably ever worked with.
Gunn went on to reveal that a trailer is coming soon, but that it won't be “too soon either.” Given the film's release date, it's safe to assume that the first Superman trailer should arrive sometime later this year, or even early 2025.
