American actress Robin Wright always wanted to get behind the camera, but it wasn’t until the House of Cards Helped her direct ten episodes of the Netflix series that she gained enough experience to direct her first film.
“What a gift it was… because otherwise I would never have had the confidence to move on and make a feature film, that’s for sure”, explains Robin Wright at the premiere of his film Land at the Sundance Film Festival. Sunday.

Arriving in a dilapidated cabin, miles from any civilization, without a phone or a car, Edee tries to learn how to survive and how to hunt. His efforts take a perilous turn before a local hunter arrives.
“Why this film? It’s to remind us that we need each other, ”Wright explained in a remote interview, because of the pandemic.
“We face adversity and it is usually the compassion and kindness of another person that helps us through difficult times… It resonates with each of us today.”
The one who played the highly sophisticated Clare Underwood in the Netflix series faced unprecedented challenges while filming Land for 29 days in a remote area of Alberta, Canada, where his team built a log cabin at 2,400 meters.
“We had a summer day, then all of a sudden it was winter,” she said. “And so we had to shoot 10 to 15 (scenes)… in one day. But it was doable. ”
A scene featuring Edee and a bear face to face could not be shot in the mountain in case the trained animal encountered real wild bears, which were so common on the set that one of them came regularly serve burgers.
Making her directing debut while playing the lead role was another challenge. “You are in front of the camera, in two meters of snow, and you cannot walk… to see the film because you are going to leave footprints in the snow and you need to film fresh snow!” Says Wright. .
