The British Prime Minister has called early general elections for July 4.
"The moment has come for Britain to choose its future,", – Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said standing outside his residence on Downing Street, The Daily Mail reports.
According to political scientists, voters are likely to give preference to the Labor Party led by Keir Starmer. Labor has been leading in the polls for more than a year.
The Conservatives have been in power for 14 years.
Elections in the UK must be held at least every five years, but the prime minister can call early voting at any time within this period.
There has recently been talk that Sunak may call an early election due to the prospects for a good economic forecast.
Sunak made this statement at the time the same day that the UK reported a 2.3% decline in inflation.
