Two Indian Air Force fighter jets – Russian Su-30 and French Mirage 2000 – crashed in the state of Madhya Pradesh during training flights. This is reported by local media.
Both aircraft took off from an air base in the city of Gwalior in the north of the country and crashed near the city of Morena. On the spot accidents are rescued. There were two pilots in the Su-30 fighter, and on board the Mirage 2000 – one pilot.
An agency source in the Indian Ministry of Defense said that two of the injured pilots have already been found, nothing threatens their lives. A military helicopter flew to the place where the third pilot is located. It is reported that he died.
The leadership of the Indian Air Force formed a special commission to investigate the incident. Experts should establish the causes of the crash and find out if the planes collided in the air.
In service with the Indian Air Force as of September By 2022, there were about 260 Su-30 fighters. Most of them were assembled by the local company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
