On Sunday evening, nearly 90% of the 420,000 Common Front union members had reached tentative agreements in principle with the Quebec government. Negotiations between the Legault government and the Common Front, as well as the Autonomous Federation of Education (FAE), will however be adjourned for Christmas Day and will resume on December 26.

The members of the Alliance of Professional and Technical Personnel in Health and Social Services (APTS) and those of the College Council (CPC), who are part of the inter-union common front, also arrived at a hypothesis of understanding on Sunday.

For a little over a year, we have been working hard to obtain an improvement in your conditions of exercise and practice as well as better recognition of your expertise in order to combat the labor shortage. and the overload of work in our public network, declared Robert Comeau, president of the APTS in a press release Sunday morning.

Here too, this is a sectoral agreement which mainly concerns working conditions.

We will speak of an agreement in principle when the appropriate union authorities have ratified the hypothesis of settlement strong>. We will simply speak of an understanding when the members have voted in favor of the agreement in principle.

This is not a guarantee of results, but with all these settlement hypotheses at the sectoral tables, we are heading in the right direction.

Discussions continue with these organizations which represent just over 58,000 healthcare workers, of education and public services.

The same goes for the 65,000 teachers of the Autonomous Federation of x27;teaching (FAE) and the 80,000 nurses of the Quebec Interprofessional Health Federation (FIQ) which are not part of the Common Front.

According to an FAE spokesperson , negotiations with the government are adjourned for Christmas Day. They will continue as soon as possible after Christmas, possibly on the 26th.

Negotiations will continue on December 26, 2023, confirmed the President of the Treasury Board, Sonia Lebel.

Saturday, the President of the Federation Independent Education Authority (FAE), Mélanie Hubert, however declared that the negotiations had intensified. There are still topics under discussion and there are still answers to be obtained, but I can confirm that it has been working very hard since yesterday [Friday], she said.

In health, the Interprofessional Health Federation of Quebec (FIQ) declared on Sunday that it hopes that the advancement of the other tables is a sign that the government has demonstrated openness to network workers and that he will demonstrate the same openness to the requests of healthcare professionals who aim to guarantee care to the population.

The FIQ indicates that the exchanges are continuing, but there remain important nodes for the moment.
