Your attitude is your backbone. Imagine how difficult it is to live joyfully when your back hurts. It's the same with self-esteem: if it's sick, life loses color.

Daily steps taken with a sick attitude towards yourself add up to a life full of insecurity, doubt and self-destruction. This is stated on the “Psychological Support” platform.

A partner who tolerates an unhealthy relationship may fear that no one is interested anymore. A person with a low salary may consider himself unworthy of more. And when you silently tolerate rudeness, you risk believing that you deserve it.

A problem with self-esteem can arise in childhood, when a child is not praised, constantly compared with others, humiliated and devalued. It can also appear in adulthood as a result of a series of failures.

Symptoms of poor self-esteem:

  • self-criticism and self-images,
  • self-doubt,
  • someone's opinion is more important than your own,
  • it is scary to say “no”,
  • it is not clear what you want,
  • feeling guilty,
  • self-depreciation ,
  • self-punishment,
  • toxic relationships,
  • the desire to draw attention to oneself.

However, sick self-esteem can be changed. Practical tips on how to do this:

1. Pay attention to your body
Learn to occupy your space, straighten your shoulders, straighten your back, feel support in your feet. It will be difficult at first, but then it will become a habit. A person with a good posture looks more authoritative, competent, successful, beautiful. First of all – for yourself!

2. Question self-criticism
Negative thoughts about yourself are almost immortal and almost always feel like the truth. Your task – learn to brake them on approach. Remember that your thoughts – these are not facts. These are just opinions and may be wrong.

3. Define your personal boundaries
Personal boundaries are different: physical, temporal, emotional, social. How to do it? Answer the statements: “I am uncomfortable when people…”, “I don't like being called…”, “I don't like to talk about topics…”. Remember the situations when you were unpleasant. Your emotions – boundary violation indicator.

4. Get to know yourself
Questionnaire – good start Honestly and carefully answer the questions about what you like or dislike the most, what you want now or in a year, formulate your dream, identify sources of inspiration, people with whom your soul sings or vice versa – you feel stressed for days after interacting with them.

Please note: binge eating, changing your appearance, branded things, copying other people, money and other people's approval do not cure self-esteem. Starting to work on yourself can be difficult. This process requires your constant work, attention, and time. But as a result, you will receive a reward: resistance to other people's words, confidence and determination, freedom, courage to dream and go to the goal.

Therefore, start working now. After all, you deserve a happy life full of self-love.
