Having barely been released, this very good Star Wars game is already captivating fans. players on Steam. A great find for those waiting for Ubisoft's very generous open world, Star Wars: Outlaws.
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, the good little remaster just released
Long before EA's monopoly on the Star Wars video game branch (the studio does not no longer has the exclusivity contract with Lucasfilm Games, which allowed Ubisoft to develop its open world Star Wars: Outlaws.), LucasArts developed excellent titles with the help of other studios, some of which are still considered the most appreciated: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005), the famous podracer game Star Wars: Episode I – Racer (1999) or the Rogue Squadron license.
Less famous, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, developed by Aspyr and released on PS2 and Gamecube in 2002. The studio recently released a remaster of Jango Fett's epic on August 1 on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox SeriesX|S and Xbox One, almost anonymously. While the gameplay, story or level layout have not been reworked, Aspyr has set about repainting the visual effects, and adjust Jango's controls, in order to improve the player experience, and this in accordance with the adaptive triggers of the latest Sony console in particular.
Gamers delighted on Steam
And that's the whole point of a game that previously suffered from major performance issues and character controls. The addition of a welcome flashlight and smoother movement, especially with a jetpack (a major black mark of the original title) make the campaign more enjoyable for unlocking Boba Fett.
This is what the comments on the game's Steam page mention. Most players do indeed note an improvement in controls, as well as an overhaul of the graphics and much less stuttering: “The game has aged incredibly well, graphics still as good even in 2024, very slight collision bug that I personally had, but nothing really disturbing, that said forgiven for the excellent level design and the fact that the game dates from 2002.”, notes for example one Internet user.
Overall, players are won over by Aspyr's work, as evidenced by this nice 89% positive ratings, with — for the moment — 305 reviews. Here's a good little remaster before looking at Star Wars: Outlaws in a little less than a month.
