Despite the cancellation ofThe Acolyte, Lucasfilm has no shortage of projects to choose from. about theStar Warsuniverse. As we eagerly await the release of the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew series, the company has just unveiled the first visuals of a very promising project.
Star Wars: an exciting period
As fans of Star Wars know,, George Lucas's abundant work has an absolutely gigantic lore. From the High Republic, which we saw a glimpse of in the series The Acolyte to the Fall of the New Order in Star Wars,Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, the Star Wars saga takes place over several decades, and therefore leaves a huge playground for authors. Oddly enough, Disney seems to have been mostly concerned with to fill the gaps between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Thus, the films Rogue One and Solo, the animated series Star Wars Rebels and The Bad Batch, the series Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor, and the games Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor have invested this period, with varying degrees of efficiency.
On the side of the Star Wars comics published by Marvel and officially part of the canon of the saga, the period separating A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back was a privileged time, at the same time as the beginnings of the Galactic Empire. The game Star Wars Outlaws, published by Ubisoft and released on Friday August 30, immerses us in between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The action of the Disney+ productions belonging to the “Mandoverse” (The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew and The Mandalorian & Grogu) takes place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, the first part of the controversial postlogy.
We learned today that another project will deal with the same period, while being more closely linked to the postlogy. These are three limited series entitled Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku, by Alex Segura, Leonard Kirk, and Stefano Raffaele. Published by Marvel, the project will tell us the period from the end of the Battle of Endor to the Battle of Jakku, which will end the war between the New Republic and the Galactic Empire, and whose traces can be seen at the beginning of Star Wars, Episode VII: The Force Awakens. The first series, Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku: Insurgency Rising(“The Battle of Jakku: Growing Insurgency”) will be released on October 2nd. The first visuals have been published!
