The National Stadium was painted blue and white in a classic that met expectations. Intensity, friction, emotion, pressure and vigor adorned the long-awaited match between Alianza Lima and Sporting Cristal, the two favorites to win the Closing Tournament. Beyond all the condiments that this match had and the desire of each one to succeed this Sunday, the scoreboard never moved. Intimates and Rimenses had to settle for a goalless draw, a result that does not discourage either of them from continuing to fight to win the tournament. Quite the opposite.
Alianza Lima, of course, benefits greatly from being able to maintain the draw against a rival as tough as Sporting Cristal. With 0-0 in the Nacional, the Blue and Whites remain undefeated in the Clausura and continue to lead the tournament standings with 13 points.
For its part, Sporting Cristal, who had more chances to take the three points during the match, it is most likely that this equality will generate some discomfort. But the sky-blue club still has a long way to go. In addition, they are only three points behind Alianza Lima with one game less than the Victorians.
The truth is that behind the result of this meeting there are many keys to highlight. Figures in the field, valuable statistics and the development of the match itself sentenced the tie between both teams.
The best of the Clausura
Without a doubt, the result has a lot to do with the rivals that have faced each other on this occasion. Both Alianza Lima and Sporting Cristal have started the Closing Tournament in a very positive way, so an equality on the scoreboard was already expected. Both came with a significant undefeated streak to this match and left with the same condition.
In the development of the game, Sporting Cristal was slightly superior. Being the second best local team in the Peruvian championship (only behind Melgar) supported them to do things better. Although Alianza, of course, was not going to let itself be defeated. Lately the blue and white team has been adding important visiting points and this time has not been the exception.
Sporting Cristal and Alianza Lima the points were distributed in the duel played at the National Stadium. The 'intimates' continue to lead the Clausura standings but with one more game than the 'rimenses'.
Most of the responsibility for the 0-0 scoreline lies with Franco Saravia. The Alianza goalkeeper simply shone. From the beginning to the end. He always showed security under the three suits, winning from above and below as well. He was perfect in the bailouts and in the hand against hand as well. It was a game of at least 10 points, without exaggeration. He even starred in a triple save in the final minutes of the match to save the team from him.
In total, according to SofaScore data, Saravia made eight saves during the match, thus managing to keep his goal clean. And it's not the first time he's done it. Already in three previous games he knew how to keep zero in his goal. In addition, he has only conceded five goals in eight games played. Now, Ángelo Campos will have a special competition in goal when he returns to activity.

In both teams, he stood out at least one defender. Yordi Vílchez was Alianza Lima's defensive standard. He was quite solid for most of the match, holding off opposing strikers several times with a firm mark. In addition, he gave his team clarity on the starts from his field.
For its part, Sporting Cristal found in Rafel Lutiger the security it needed so much. Although the young defender did not have a good first half, in the second half he improved considerably, with important closures and saves and even risking a dangerous move to prevent Paolo Hurtado from attacking Alejandro Duarte's goal.
In this section, it is also important to highlight the work of the sides of both teams and the contention (Martín Távara and Josepmir Ballón), who helped a lot in the brand. Special mention deserves Gino Peruzzi, who gradually gained confidence in the match, becoming one of the figures in the second half. Joao Grimaldo, who came in for Hohberg to destabilize the Argentine winger on that wing, will have nightmares with him.

Little influence from attackers
The game had little prominence of those who should have had it on the scoreboard. In the case of Alianza Lima, Hernán Barcos looked unrecognizable; he generated very little in the rival field. The same thing happened with Cristian Benavente and Paolo Hurtado, who did not transcend as expected in the minutes they had. Pablo Lavandeira was a dangerous card, but he was not as lucid as in the previous meetings. Aldair Rodríguez was the highlight of the blue and white offense, with a lot of work in the green, not only to attack, but also to defend.
In the case of Sporting Cristal, Diego Buonanotte had a hard time in this game. His performance was very weak. Alejandro Hohberg and Leandro Sosa had little prominence. They did not stand out as they would like. Joao Grimaldo came on in the second half to help create more danger, but was perfectly controlled by Peruzzi. Only Irven Ávila was able to maintain a consistent performance.

Aftermath of the final
A lot of intensity, but little goal. That is what had been evidenced in last year's two-way finals between both teams and it is what has been reflected again in this 2022. Apparently, Carlos Bustos and Roberto Mosquera already know how to annul their respective figures within of the field and this is the reason for the last results.
In fact, hardly a goal was celebrated in the round-trip matches in that definition of the title (1-0 in favor of Alianza and 0-0 in the rematch). In the Opening Tournament, that story continued: the Rimenses barely won 1-0 in March at the Matute. Now, a new goalless draw has been consummated, this time at the National Stadium.
