Spider-Man: Andrew Garfield dwells on his future as Peter Parker for Marvel's MCU

With Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel has met the expectations of fans of the spider-man. It is not one, not two, but three Spider-Men who have appeared on screen. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker have joined Tom Holland's, for a film particularly appreciated by fans of Marvel productions. What about the sequel for the actor of The Amazing Spider-Man? The American actor responds.

towards an andrew garfield return as spider-man for marvel?

For months, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire denied the rumors, but especially the leaks, according to which their respective Spider-Men would appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Only, the internet was right, once again. A surprise spoiled for many, with a reunion that could have been much more beautiful.Especially since Marvel wanted to keep the surprise as long as possible, even to the point of keeping their appearance in the trailers a secret.

But Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are indeed back once again in their Spider-Man costumes, this time to save the universe from Tom Holland's spider-man. And while the narrative arc around Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man is well and truly over, with a grand conclusion, that of Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man can still be easily extended. Marvel can therefore offer him an ending worthy of the name, by choosing why not to kill him once and for all. A Spider-Man with a similar fate to that of Gwen Stacy in The Amazing-Spider-Man 2? Possible.

A lot of water should flow under the bridge before Marvel communicates on the subject, or at least on the sequel to Spider-Man. A fourth opus in the adventures of Tom Holland is still planned for 2026, with adventures on a smaller scale than those that will be seen in the next Avengers films.Nevertheless, this fourth film would be an opportunity to see Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom interact.

With its Multiverse, Marvel is capable of anything. Although a return of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man has not been commented on by the House of Ideas, and probably will not be, the 41-year-old American actor dwelt on his future as Spider-Man at the microphone of Esquire. An interview in which he explains that his role as Spider-Man was “left in suspense” after the cessation of production on Spider-Man 3, but its resumption in No Way Home was a “ true healing“.

Of course, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing to do, if it contributed to the culture, if there was a great concept or something that had never been done before, that was unique and weird and exciting and something that you could dive into,” he explains. “I love this character and he brings me joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I'm joyful in return.”

Unsurprisingly, Andrew Garfield is up for putting the suit back on. It remains to be seen whether Marvel, or Sony, will give him the chance later. The reception to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men return in No Way Home may end up convincing the bigwigs of the 7th art to repeat the experience. But such an initiative would expose itself to criticism, with a cruel lack of new ideas. Criticism that Marvel is already the target of, especially after the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the forefront, while Iron Man, the character he who played in the MCU for 11 years, died in Avengers: Endgame.
