Spain believes that digital platforms should adhere to neutrality in matters of domestic policy of states amid attacks by the owner of X (Twitter) Elon Musk on politicians in Britain and Germany.
This was stated by the spokeswoman of the Spanish government, Pilar Alegría, at a briefing on Tuesday, January 7, writes “European Pravda” with reference to Europa Press.
Alegria recalled that the European Commission has the authority to regulate digital platforms and was “very clear and decisive” in this regard, and emphasized that the Spanish government supports such actions.
“Of course, Spain, as a member of the European Union, supports the European Commission and, above all, stands for “…that these digital platforms operate with absolute neutrality and, above all, without any interference,” a Spanish government spokeswoman added.
In recent days, Elon Musk has come under fire from several European leaders after publicly supporting the German far-right Alternative for Germany party and calling for the resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
