A snowstorm hit southeastern Alberta this weekend. The city of Calgary received 22 cm of snow between Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
The heavy snowfall caused accidents on the roads. The Calgary Police Service says it received 177 reports of incidents, including 18 collisions with injuries on Saturday and Sunday morning. The SPC specifies that more than one call can be issued for the same incident.
According to Rob Griffith of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the storm originated in the United States. She is currently heading towards Manitoba, he warns. ECCC has also issued warnings for Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Some areas of these provinces could receive up to 40 cm of snow.
The federal agency has also reduced the territory of the snow warning in Alberta. It now covers the Cold Lake, Lac la Biche, Bonnyville and Saint-Paul region until Monday morning.
