Smartphone users are in no rush to pay for AI and sophisticated models

Smartphone users are slow to pay for AI and complex models

According to a CNET survey, most smartphone users do not see much value in complex models and devices with AI functions.

Despite the active development of artificial intelligence by companies such as Apple, Google and Samsung, a quarter of respondents consider AI functions useless. 45% of users are not willing to pay more for AI, and 34% are concerned about privacy issues related to its use.

What really matters to users:

  • Long working time battery (61%)
  • Memory increase (46%)
  • Camera improvement (38%)

Only 18% have AI a key factor when choosing a new smartphone. The survey was conducted ahead of the launch of Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI-powered features available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16. Google and Samsung are also actively developing their AI capabilities by introducing new features into their devices.

Results surveys show that smartphone manufacturers need to rethink their approach to implementing AI and complex models, offering real benefits that will attract users and justify additional costs.
