After several months of being in the media spotlight due to her separation from Gerard Piqué, Shakira and the former soccer player decided to speak publicly about one of the most critical and complex issues of their decision: the future of their children.
According to what was reported in a statement signed by both, they reached an agreement to provide “security and protection” to Milan and Sasha.
“We want to communicate that we have signed an agreement that guarantees the well-being of our children and that it will be ratified in court, as part of a merely formal procedure. Our sole objective is to provide them with the greatest security and protection, and we trust that their privacy will be respected,” the letter says.
Similarly, Shakira and Piqué requested that, regardless of the controversy that your divorce generates, your children can have privacy and enjoy their lives without any interruption.
“We appreciate the interest shown and hope that children can continue with their lives with the necessary privacy, in a safe and calm environment,” the statement concludes.
This is not the first time that the ex-partner refers to this issue, because although they admit that they have been greatly affected by the media persecution of some media outlets and paparazzi, the biggest victims may be their children and that is why they have had to separate them from everything that can bring them negative consequences.
“There is no place where I can hide from photographers with my children, except in my own house. We can't take a walk in the park like a normal family or go get ice cream or do any activity without being followed. So it's hard. And I have tried to hide the situation in front of my children. I try to protect them, because that is my priority in life (…) The treatment of the press has been very difficult and very invasive for my children. They don't deserve to feel watched every second, photographed at school or chased by paparazzi. They deserve a normal life. It seems like a total circus to me”, explained Shakira in a recent interview with the North American magazine Elle.
As for the values that, according to her, now prevail in her new stage as a woman and a single mother, the 45-year-old woman from Barranquilla mentioned that she must have a lot of strength to transmit them to her two little ones, as well as to all those who have accompanied her since that this situation was known.
“I think that women have this resilience that is innate. And we are meant to feed and care for those who depend on us. So if you ask me how I manage this… I manage, I guess, by reminding myself that I need to be an example to my children, that I need to be what they want me to be, and what I want them to become. . And I want to be there, too, for all the people who have shown me their love and support. That is my greatest strength. That is my most powerful engine right now,” he added in that conversation.

For his part, Gerard Piqué announced last September that he would take legal action against those media outlets and journalists who, after persecuting him and interfering in his personal life , they forced him to alter his routine “for the sole purpose of protecting his children, his family and his immediate environment.”
