South Korean Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador in Seoul to protest against the dispatch of North Korean troops to Russia for deployment in Ukraine, the Yonhap news agency reported on Monday, October 21, Reuters reports.
Ambassador Georgy Zinoviev told Yonhap that he had met with First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Hong-kyun.
The South Korean Foreign Ministry did not respond to Reuters' request for comment.

The agency suggested that they would likely take part in combat operations in Ukraine.
A White House National Security Council spokesman on Friday, October 18, could not confirm reports that North Korean troops were fighting on Russia's side, but noted that if so, "it would mark a dangerous development in Russia's war against Ukraine".
Russia and North Korea have denied that they are engaged in arms sales. The Kremlin has also rejected South Korean claims that North Korea may have sent troops to help Russia in its standoff with Ukraine.
