To mark Black History Month, the Segal Center will present a public art installation in partnership with the Black Theater Workshop (BTW). It will be held outside, on the front façade of the Segal Center (5170, chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine), throughout the month of February.
Entitled Liberation’s Radiance, this light installation is the work of artist and lighting designer Tim Rodrigues. His project will be presented on a loop every evening to passers-by, from 5:30 p.m.
“The public is invited to catch the light movements and reflect on the continuing need for an evolution towards fairness, justice and respect, so that all individuals can share the freedoms promised by the framework of our institutions and social structures, ”the Segal Center press release states.
Please note, in order to respect the curfew instructions, the installation will remain on until 7:30 p.m. In addition, each week, texts reflecting on the artistic approach of Tim Rodrigues will be on the Segal websites. and the BTW Theater.
Directed by Quincy Armorer, the BTW Theater is the oldest theater company dedicated to the works of black communities and the diaspora still operating in Canada.
