European scientists found in a study that taking vitamin D during pregnancy has a positive effect on the fetus. In the future, the child's IQ rises, especially from the age of 5.
Experts have found that 46% of expectant mothers participating in the observations have a significant deficiency in the body of vitamin D. At the same time, this element has a significant impact on the formation of mental abilities of babies. The lead author of the study, Melissa Melou, said that in the course of observations of pregnant women, experts identified a stable relationship between the concentration of this vitamin in the body of expectant mothers during gestation and a high IQ level in children 4-6 years old.
The researchers concluded that the findings show the importance of the diet of pregnant women, including replenishing vitamin D deficiencies, by eating more fatty fish, dairy products and eggs.
