To establish the truth, scientists analyzed more than 1.7 thousand conversations on WhatsApp. As a result, 351 chat rooms contained at least one or several statements that did not correspond to reality. Experts concluded that, on average, an honest address contains about 7.2 words, while a deceitful one – 8.2. The more the interlocutor embellishes his text, the higher the likelihood that he is telling a lie.
Scientists have recognized that it is more difficult for men to calculate lies, since they are more likely to follow brevity. The key characteristic of the cheater is the choice of expressions. Liars are more likely to use “unnecessary” words, including “probably” and “definitely”.
