The researchers noted that Tibet is a significant region in terms of geological research. However, field work was difficult due to both physical and political inaccessibility. Despite such obstacles, scientists managed to collect impressive data sets and analyze them, which plays an important role for subsequent work.
Thanks to the materials obtained, scientists were able to look into the bowels of the Earth at the site in which India collides with Asia. The meeting was accompanied by several competing geological processes. In particular, there was a movement of one tectonic plate under another, informs Planet Today. Thinning of the earth's crust and its collapse were also observed.
