Scientists in the study have found a way to regulate sex drive in men. It turned out that the key role behind the aromatase gene is concentrated in certain areas of the brain tissue.

Research shows that the gene is able to regulate sexual desire on the part of men. As a result, due to drugs, its effect can either be enhanced if a person has a low libido, or weakened if it becomes obsessive. Aromatase is able to transform testosterone into estrogen, which stimulates sexual urge. This is the first of its kind to shed light on the preservation of sexual activity in men.
A study was conducted on the example of male mice. As part of the experiment, scientists selectively blocked aromatase in the brain. As a result, their sexual activity decreased by 50% in total, even though the level of testosterone in the blood was higher than in the control group. The authors of the work believe that their discovery will provide a new approach to the treatment of sexual desire disorders.
