Scientists from the University of Virginia have developed new rotor designs for wind turbines that will make them cheaper and more efficient. They designed rotors with different blade widths and modeled the turbines to determine the best design for sea conditions with strong wind gusts. The best results were achieved by a design with a moderate blade width, which produces more electricity at less weight and cost. By optimizing individual parameters, these wind turbines can have a significant impact on wind energy.

The first wind power plant with a capacity of 1.8 MW is operating in Transcarpathia and is in test mode.
