Scientists have discovered the remains of an underwater creature over 30 meters in size. It turned out to be larger than the blue whale – the largest living animal.

Experts began to compare the found fragment – a half-meter bone – with known prehistoric creatures and found that it remained from the skeleton of an ichthyosaur, but this is only a small part of an ancient marine animal. According to scientists, the remains belong to a young individual that was in a phase of active growth, as indicated by many indirect signs. Having resorted to modeling, the researchers determined its full length, which could be from 30 meters. At the same time, the blue whale, considered the largest animal on Earth, has a length of “only” 20-23 meters.
Previously, scientists from Australia and Canada developed a special method to determine the exact weight of dinosaurs.
