Scientists have estimated the chances of humanity to find a dying alien civilization. The predictions were voiced by Caleb Scharf, a scientist and representative of Columbia University in the United States.

According to the astrobiologist, if alien civilizations exist, then they probably live well and prefer to conduct inconspicuous activity. In this regard, the chances of finding such an extraterrestrial world remain slim. However, the likelihood of detecting alien life will increase markedly if it encounters difficulties or is on the verge of extinction.
Even if the death of such a civilization also happens “quietly”, it will be possible to detect changes due to the appearance of atmospheric pollution or similar signs, so science needs to focus on looking for “cries for help,” writes Planet Today. It is possible that extraterrestrial worlds have the same problems as humanity, for example, the developing ecological crisis.
