Scientists have created an underwater robot that surpasses humans in the speed of performing tasks

Researchers from Columbia University have developed an innovative underwater robot AquaBot, capable of autonomously manipulating objects under water. As Tech Xplore reports , the uniqueness of the device lies in its self-learning ability, which allows you to improve the skills of working in difficult underwater conditions.

The AquaBot is based on the design of the QYSEA V-EVO underwater drone, equipped with a special grip and system underwater cameras. The robot learns based on the data received during the demonstration of human actions and constantly improves its skills thanks to the feedback system.

During the tests, the AquaBot successfully performed a variety of underwater tasks, including grabbing rocks, sorting garbage and retrieving various objects. The results of the experiments showed that the robot works 41% faster than a human when performing similar operations.

An important feature of the project is open access to the software and technical documentation of the robot. This will allow the scientific community to continue to improve the technology and conduct tests in real conditions. In the future, such robots may be used in rescue operations and cleaning the seabed from pollution.
