It is noteworthy that the term “moderate consumption” of alcohol experts call the level of consumption of alcoholic beverages equal to 14 units per week, which is equivalent to about 0.33 liters of beer per day with a strength of 5% alcohol content. In order to establish what effect such a regime has on the human body, scientists conducted an experiment, to participate in which they attracted 300 people aged 39-45 years. As a result, it was found that even such a small amount of alcohol can provoke a decrease in brain size. “We were able to identify a direct link between moderate alcohol consumption and a decrease in brain volume in women and men in middle age,” the study authors say.
In addition, according to scientists, alcohol can also affect brain tissue and memory function, cognitive skills and human behavior. However, a person can still reverse all these violations, for this, experts emphasize, he needs to refrain from drinking alcohol for a long period of time.
