Schoolboy who set fire to Ukrainian army car released from punishment and banned from using Telegram messenger

The court released from punishment a 16-year-old boy who set fire to an AFU car for money in the summer and banned him from using Telegram.

This is stated in the verdict of the Izmail City District Court of the Odessa region, Ukrinform reports.

According to the case materials, in August 2024, an 11th grader from the village of Utkonosivka, Izmail district, agreed to set fire to a car that was in use by the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for $2,000. «Order» the guy found in the Telegram messenger.

At the court hearing, the perpetrator pleaded guilty, sincerely repented and assured that he had committed the crime without realizing its seriousness.

Taking this into account, the judge found the guy guilty and sentenced him to 5 years in prison, but released him from serving the sentence with a probationary period of 2 years.

«Release from serving the main sentence with probation, if he does not systematically commit (three or more) offenses during the probationary period of two years», – the sentence.

The guy is also prohibited from using the Telegram messenger and leaving his place of residence from 19:00 to 06:00.
