German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during his speech at Charles University in Prague supported the idea of French President Emmanuel Macron about creating a new “European Political Community”. This was reported by Reuters.
According to the agency, such a community would allow EU countries to engage in closer dialogue with partners outside the union on security, energy and global warming issues. However, Scholz added that such an association would not become an alternative to the enlargement of the European Union.
"Such an association — and it's important to me — is not an alternative to the upcoming EU enlargement”, — Scholz said.
The idea of creating a new “European political community” proposed by French President Macron. According to him, this would help to establish cooperation with those countries that in the foreseeable future have no chance of joining the European Union. Macron named Ukraine among such countries.
