Scholz said that such a decision took away from Russia a reason to explain the decrease in gas supplies by technical reasons.
“Canada made the right decision when it handed over the repaired turbine of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline to the Russian Gazprom. This helped expose Russian President Vladimir Putin's bluff,” said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
“Thanks to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Putin's bluff has been exposed! We never believed that the reduction in supplies was due to technical reasons. Russia is trying to put pressure on us and play one ally against another – we must not let her succeed. Since the turbine is ready for delivery, Russia should renew its contractual obligations,” Scholz said.
In his opinion, the decision to supply the turbine is hardly a favor to Gazprom.
“This is a strong sign of support from Germany and Europe, as well as the solidarity of our closest allies in supporting Ukraine in the long term” , — said the Chancellor, adding that the weakening of Germany and Europe will not help Ukraine.
