Berlin will continue to provide military support to Ukraine both from its own budget and together with its G7 partners, as four billion euros are allocated in the German budget for 2025 to support Kyiv.
As reported by Ukrinform, he said this at a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
“The draft budget for next year includes and will include 4 billion euros for bilateral military support for Ukraine. In addition, together with the G7 countries, we will provide Ukraine with a $50 billion loan,” Scholz emphasized.
He added that this should provide guaranteed, reliable financial support. At the same time, the loan will be covered by income from frozen assets of the Russian central bank, as agreed in June at the Group summit in Italy.
According to Scholz, this is not an easy task, but it is quite possible to implement it, because all parties want to launch this mechanism very quickly. Now representatives of all interested countries are actively working on the technical conditions, in particular, the German Chancellor held consultations with the European Commission's management of the euro part, with the heads of other partners in Semka.
“I believe that we will be able to clarify the technical requirements in the near future,” the Chancellor emphasized.
The head of the German government noted that, despite recent attempts to sow doubts about the readiness of his country to continue to provide assistance to Kiev, Germany will continue to provide its financial, economic, political and military support.
“Germany is the largest aid provider in Europe and plans to remain so,” he said.
It is worth adding that Scholz reported that there are no new decisions yet on the possibility of transferring new types of weapons to Ukraine, in particular, long-range missiles.
