Scandal over the Toyota concern: the Japanese auto industry faces difficult times

The Japanese auto industry has been shaken safety testing scandal, and on Tuesday Japan's Ministry of Transport conducted a search at the headquarters of the Toyota automobile concern.

Toyota – The world's largest car manufacturer, and the concern has already had to apologize for providing false information to pass safety certification tests.

The company has stopped production of three models: Corolla Fielder, Corolla Axio and Yaris Cross. Toyota sold more than 11 million passenger vehicles in 2023.

Company Chairman Akio Toyoda also apologized on Monday. According to him, the company did not take appropriate precautions.

However, the entire Japanese automobile industry is already involved in the scandal. Toyota's competitors – Honda, Mazda and Suzuki – also admitted to providing false information. Meanwhile, Honda emphasized that the company's cars are safe, and Mazda has stopped supplying some cars.
