SBU detained a lawyer who defended Russian informants in court

A Kyiv lawyer helped the Russians recruit adjusters of enemy attacks, and after the informants were detained – defended them in court. The Security Service of Ukraine reported this on Sunday, January 19.

Counterintelligence and investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine detained another Russian military intelligence agent in Kyiv. He turned out to be a metropolitan lawyer, recruited by GRU officer Vitaly Naumov during a personal meeting on Russian territory back in 2015.

After the start of the full-scale invasion, he not only looked for new agents, but also defended them in court. In addition, the traitor provided the Russian special service with information about SBU officers who exposed traitors, and also copied and transferred procedural documents to representatives of the Russian GRU. For each completed task, the agent received a monetary reward.

The man was detained at his home, and during searches, law enforcement officers seized his mobile phone, which he used to communicate with the enemy and other agents. The lawyer was informed of suspicion of high treason, for which he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
