Sarah Gillis Plays the Violin in Space on the Star Wars “Rey's Theme” Soundtrack

On Sunday, September 15, the famous five-day space journey of Polaris Dawn successfully ended. The crew of SpaceX's Polaris Dawn has arrived off the coast of Florida and successfully completed a ground-breaking commercial mission.

Polaris Dawn crew member Sarah Gillis played the violin to the “Rey's Theme” soundtrack from Star Wars while in space. . The video was published on the Space Intelligence page.

On board were billionaire Jared Isaacman, SpaceX engineer Sarah Gillis, retired US Air Force Lt. Col. pilot Scott (Kidd) Poteet, and SpaceX medic Anna Menon. Their spacecraft climbed to a height of 1,408 kilometers – a record distance for the past 52 years. The crew was in orbit almost 740 kilometers above the Earth, which is higher than the International Space Station and the Hubble Space Telescope.

During the commercial spacewalk, the hatch of the Dragon capsule was open for just under half an hour. Isaacman ventured into waist-high space to briefly test SpaceX's new spacesuit, followed by a knee-high spacewalk by Gillis. Isaacman became the 264th person to walk into space, and SpaceX's Sarah Gillis became the 265th.

It is known that Gillis took a violin with her in the spaceship. According to SpaceX, this was the first time on an orbiting spacecraft. A woman played a tune from the movie “Star Wars” – this moment was shown in a video clip shot by SpaceX. At this time, she was accompanied by an orchestra from Earth via Starlink satellite communication.

During the space journey, the SpaceX crew was broadcast live. was approaching the Earth, applause and shouts of congratulations could be heard. In the last minutes of the broadcast, viewers watched as the cosmonauts sat with their arms crossed on their chests, waiting for the Dragon's parachutes to open.
