Sanitary measures: nine Dollarama receive fines

Nine branches of the Dollarama chain have received tickets since the start of the pandemic due to breaches of health measures. Labor Minister Jean Boulet told LCN on Thursday that Quebec had no choice but to crack down because the company did not follow health guidelines.

The Standards, Equity, Occupational Health and Safety Commission (CNESST) also issued 124 correction notices in banner stores.

In all, 68 Dollarama have been visited by inspectors since the start of the health crisis.

If they were rife in nine stores, it is in fact 11 tickets that were attributed in all.

The faulty Dollarama are found in Gaspésie, in the Yamaska sector, in Saint-Jean-sur-le-Richelieu, in Valleyfield, in Saguenay and in the Capitale-Nationale, the CNESST said.

“It’s a recurring problem at Dollarama,” Minister Boulet told LCN.

“We do not follow the instructions, we do not listen to the inspectors who intervene,” he continued. Initially, we did a lot of education and awareness, but after that we found that there was no respect for wearing a mask, no respect for the two-meter distance, almost all the health instructions were violated, we did not take them into account, so we had really reached the stage of issuing statements of offense, there will be fines. Dollarama must be able to comply with the instructions, failing which they also face a shutdown order, outright. ”
