A double by Paraguayan Tonny Sanabria gave Torino a 2-2 draw this Saturday in the derby against Juventus, prolonging the fall of Vecchia Signora, who were momentarily left out of the Serie A Champions League spots.
And that could be even worse for Juve, who rescued a point thanks to a goal from the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo with nine minutes remaining against a Torino who did merit to take the victory.
It was Juventus that took the lead, thanks to a goal from Federico Chiesa, but Torino, fighting for salvation, competed with great commitment and turned the score around with a double from the former Real Betis Sanabria player.
The Paraguayan forward took advantage of a poor rejection by Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to sign the 1-1 header and did not forgive a serious defensive pass missed by Swede Dejan Kulusevski 17 seconds after the restart to complete the comeback.
He has already scored four goals in the five games played with the Torino “granata” shirt, in addition to having offered an assist.
Juventus paid the psychological blow of 1-1, but at the most difficult moment Cristiano appeared, with his twenty-fourth goal of the league season, to score 2-2.
The last minutes were of high intensity, with Uruguayan Rodrigo Bentancur who shook the post and Sanabria who touched the hat-trick with a great header stopped by Szczesny.
Juventus continues to fall, which is about to say goodbye to the league title, already close to Inter, and who was left out of the Champions League positions, with four days remaining for the classic against Naples.
The situation is not going better at the extra-sports level, after Pirlo left out of the list for the derby the Argentine Paulo Dybala, the Brazilian Arthur Melo and the American Weston McKennie, punished for organizing a night dinner and violating the anti-coronavirus rules.
