Samsung's new foldable smartphone could be much cheaper than its predecessors

The new foldable smartphone from Samsung could be much cheaper than its predecessors

There have been rumors that Samsung is preparing to release a more affordable version of its foldable smartphone Galaxy Z Flip 6. The new model, presumably called Galaxy Z Flip 6 FE, could be part of the company's strategy to expand the audience for its innovative devices.

Korean blogger Yeux1122 reported that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 FE could appear on the market as early as next year. Although details are still scarce, there are hints that the device will be presented at the same time as Samsung's new generation of foldable smartphones, as well as the Galaxy S25 Slim, which is expected to be released in April.

In addition, a Twitter user under the nickname Jukanlosreve said that one of Samsung's executives stated at an internal meeting of the company's intention to lower the barrier to entry for consumers in the foldable device segment.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 FE is expected to retain many of the characteristics of the base model. In particular, the device may be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor instead of the more expensive Snapdragon 8 Elite, which will allow it to reduce the cost. The smartphone is also expected to receive a similar camera system and run on Android 16.

The release of a more affordable version of the foldable smartphone will allow Samsung to compete with other manufacturers offering inexpensive foldable devices, for example, with Nubia Flip 5G costing $ 499. This could significantly expand the market and attract new users to foldable screen technologies.
