Samsung will no longer produce Galaxy smartphones: the reason has become known

Samsung abandons the Galaxy brand. It's an unexpected but perhaps necessary move for the company.

Amidst stories about Samsung competing with the iPhone, a new report claims the company is considering a rebrand. This reports Tom's Guide.

Thanks to information from whistleblower Jukanlosreve on X, it became known that Samsung is studying the possibility of rebranding the Galaxy flagship smartphones. This is an unexpected, but perhaps necessary step for the company. Samsung has five lines of smartphones — Z, S, A, M and F — under the Galaxy umbrella, with the Z and S reserved for flagship devices. And that's not to mention all Galaxy-branded products, including the Tab S10 tablets, Buds 3 Pro headphones, Watch 7 smartwatch and Galaxy Ring.

As the report points out, a mix of high-end, mid-range and budget of devices can prevent flagship devices from standing out, as younger audiences seem to think Galaxy is not the best product compared to iPhone.

Samsung is also often accused of copying Apple when it comes to new features in the S series phones. sales of the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, foldable devices that Apple doesn't even offer, company executives even apologized earlier this month for not being more innovative.

It's not clear from E-Today's report that how far along the potential rebranding is on Samsung's roadmap. An industry insider commented to a Korean publication: “Samsung is also aware of the need for a new brand, so there is a high possibility of its launch.”

The Galaxy S25 Ultra may be launched in January next year under this name, but future S or Z series will most likely be rebranded.
