Samsung has stopped supporting the Galaxy A42 5G smartphone

Support for the Galaxy A42 5G smartphone has been officially discontinued by Samsung.

The device was launched in November 2020 and was promised 4 years of updates. The smartphone received its last update in June or July 2024, depending on the region.

Over the past 4 years, the Galaxy A42 5G has received two major Android updates and regular security updates — every three months for the first two years, and then twice a year.

The Galaxy A42 5G is not on Samsung's published list of devices that will receive the update in December 2024.

If using the old software is inconvenient for you, you should consider changing your device.
