Samsung has created record-breaking RAM

Samsung Electronics, a world leader in advanced technologies, announced the development of the industry's first LPDDR5X RAM. It supports the highest speed of data processing – up to 10.7 gigabits per second (Gbps). About the new product told on the brand website.

Using the 12 nanometer (nm) technology process, the company created the smallest chip size among the available LPDDRs and strengthened its technological leadership in the DRAM market with low energy consumption .

“As the demand for low-power, high-performance memory grows, LPDDR DRAM is expected to expand its applications, primarily from mobile devices to other areas that traditionally require higher performance and reliability, including PCs, accelerators, servers and automobiles, &ndash ; says YongCheol Bae, executive vice president of memory production planning at Samsung Electronics. – Samsung will continue to innovate and deliver optimized products for the coming era of artificial intelligence on devices through close collaboration with customers.

Samsung's 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X increases performance by more than 25% and capacity by more than 30% compared to the previous generation. It also increases the capacity of one mobile DRAM package to 32 GB, making it the optimal solution for the era of artificial intelligence on devices that require high performance.

The novelty includes specialized energy-saving technologies, in particular, optimized power variation depending on the workload and extended sleep intervals. These improvements increase energy efficiency by 25% compared to the previous generation, enabling mobile devices to enjoy longer battery life and servers – minimize total cost of ownership (TCO) by reducing power consumption during data processing.

Mass production of LPDDR5X at 10.7 Gbit/s is expected to begin in the second half of the year after validation by mobile application processor (AP) and mobile processor vendors devices.
